On the Road in the Northern Territory

When you travel in Australia you are never quite sure what you will see next. On the way from Alice Springs to Darwin we saw the UFO capital of Australia (self-proclaimed), a pet camel, the oldest pub in the Northern Territories and a pub-museum in the middle of nowhere. But nowhere is always somewhere and when there is nothing you invent something.






An abandoned freight car is the only relic of a once thriving railroad in the 1900s near Pine Creek.


The eccentric pub of Grove Hill is a corrugated shed that boasts a museum of oddments left behind from the old mining days.


When the Aussies received a pay raise but the Chinese laborers did not, the Chinese came to work with "hollow shovels" as a protest.


It took us a long time to figure out this sign. (Will you buy me a drink if I tell you….)
