Palms lagoon Lakefield National Park Cape York Queensland
In the cape, over 90% of the rain falls during summer from November through to April. The animals and plants have had to adapt to the severe seasonal changes from drought to flood. Many of the water bodies such as this one are ephemeral and will dry up each year. These places are often important watering points for many bird and animal species including the endangered star finch Neochmia ruficauda.
