Exporting the Landy

The Land Rover was shipped back home to South Africa from Perth where we ended our long Australian trek. The Landy, still broken, was put in its shipping container in Perth. It will be repaired in South Africa where it is still under warranty. Our friends from MOVE IT Removals will be there to welcome it in Durban on September 1st and haul it to Johannesburg for repairs and storage.

The images below follow the Landy through the process of packing it and loading it into the container in Perth.

The Landy arrived at the shipper in Perth well ahead of us. We rented a Britz 4WD to finish the last 4,000k from Broome to Perth

Packed for transport -- all of our gear fits.

…inside and out

Crippled and undrivable...

It gets a cursory 'once over' wash before loading.

The Landy's 'home' during its long ocean voyage back to South Africa

Pushing the massive vehicle into the container box was no easy trick, especially as the sun began to set and tempers frayed

First two…

Then four…

It fits, just!

Nicole looks on as the team tries to figure out the Landy's complicated ALARM UNLOCK system…

Nicole coming to the rescue...as the team watches, incredulous

Nicole knew exactly what to do to disarm the alarm system

The vehicle was securely latched down on all sides inside the container

Ever watchful Nicole…the doting mother.

The final restraining boards were nailed in place

The supervising officer made the final inspection.

And the security seal was secured.

Ready to set sail for South Africa!
