Broome

The Pilbara and the Kimberley are separated by the westerly edge of the Great Sandy Desert which extends all the way from the Northern Territory to the Indian Ocean. Broome is an isolated town. It is nestled on the north side of Roebuck Bay and to the north is the Dampier Peninsula, home to a number of Aboriginal communities.

Broome is known for its palm-fringed beaches, its clear, blue waters, and its relaxed atmosphere. It is famous for its Chinatown and the influences of early Japanese pearlers. Today the cultured pearl industry has replaced the dangerous deep-diving pearling.

Cable Beach and its camel rides is nearby.
