Western Australia is famed for its
wildflowers which bloom mainly from August to November. It is
estimated that there are more than 8,000 species of flowering
plants in the state.
The Southwest part of Western Australia
has over 3,000 species alone, many of which are unique because
of the state's isolation. You can find wildflowers almost everywhere
but the Jarrah forests in the southwest are particularly rich.
This is just a small sampler to whet
your appetite. Many people will recognize the common names of
flowering plants: wattle, gum, featherflower, cone flower, mulla
mulla, honey myrtle and mountain bells. |
