There are numerous boat charters out
of the Ningaloo Marine Park but none is as spectacular or pleasant
as the Ningaloo Deep Charter, with skipper Peter Lake.
The Ningaloo Reef runs alongside the
Northwest Cape for 260km, from Bundegi Reef in the northeast
to Amherst Point in the southwest. Within this marine park Dugongs
can be seen, as well as greenback turtles and placid whale sharks.
Over 220 species of coral have also been recorded in the waters
of the park. Every June and July humpback whales pass close by
the coast on their way north to their calving grounds, probably
near the Montebello Islands. They return to Antarctica in October
and November.
